William Lloyd was glad to hear that Francis Jackson Garrison arrived safely in Munich with the aid of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Villard. The predictions made by "Saunty," a seeress, all came true. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Phillips Garrison went home last Monday. William L. Garrison attended the funeral of a little boy named Jenks. He may be able to get Miss Wiggin to stay with Mrs. Garrison this winter. George Thompson's oldest son is very ill. Garrison mentions the election of Charles L. Mitchell, the first colored member of the Massachusetts Legislature. There will be a strong military demonstration in support of Congress in December. Garrison writes: "There will be great curiosity as well as anxiety to see the message of our factious President." William L. Garrison was surprised that Theodore Tilton and Parker Pillsbury were opposed to the adoption of the 14th Amendment. The officers of the 55th Regiment formed an association.
