PROVENANCE: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy Q.403.100 no.1 FOLIO with leather bookplate of Eduardo J. Bullrich. Pencil dealer's notes, codes, etc. Extensive early/contemporary Latin and German annotation in red and brown ink throughout. According to BPL Quarterly (April 1955, p. 88), this volume formerly belonged to the monastery of Ramsau, in Bavaria. Purchased from Maggs in March, 1954.

BINDING: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy Q.403.100 no.1 FOLIO bound in contemporary South German blind tooled pigskin over wooden boards. Tooling matches that of Einbanddatenbank (EBDB) workshop w003742. On the upper cover, a central panel under a single floral roll, with ogival diapering of leafy stems, the interstices each with a large vegetal fleuron, an eagle stamp in each lower corner and a rhombic fleuron stamp in the middle. In the upper-right of the outermost border, a man-in-the-moon; in the upper-left, the sun; stag stamps in the lower corners, the rest filled with "Maria" banderoles. The middle border surrounds the central panel on three sides with round "Agnus Dei" tools. The lower cover with a similar design. Paper label on upper cover. Spine repaired, with manuscript labels faded. Hole from a bookchain staple on lower cover. Brass catch plates on upper cover; clasp anchors remain, with clasps lost.
