William Lloyd Garrison writes to Wendell Phillips Garrison: "I was none the less gratified to receive your last letter because of its criticisms upon my article in the Independent, and particularly upon my views respecting the preservation of the Old South Church in Boston." William Lloyd Garrison blames the Revolutionary patriots for allowing slavery to exist after the establishment of the United States. He is not particularly interested in the preservation of the Old South Church. He opposes the use of tax funds for its purchase. William Lloyd Garrison visited his son, William Lloyd Garrison Jr., in Osterville.
