William Lloyd Garrison wrote an article entitled "Centennial Reflections" for the Independent. It may cause some "'patriotic' vials of wrath" to fall on William Lloyd Garrison's head, since he was not overly respectful of the heroes of the Revolution. He can't understand why Wendell Phillips objected so strongly to the removal of Old South Church. The shoes that Wendell Phillips Garrison sent to him are satisfactory. He thanks Wendell Phillips Garrison for the printed "memoranda of the Garrison Family." William L. Garrison is still suffering from rheumatism in his knee. He is glad to hear of Lucy McKim Garrison's improvement in health and that her mother is getting a rest from her "arduous cares." Henry Villard suggests having some renovations made to William L. Garrison's house. William Lloyd Garrison Jr.'s family is in Osterville on Cape Cod.
