William Lloyd Garrison postponed his return home because of acute pain in his knees and hips caused by Dr. Dow's electrical treatment. He wanted to see Miss M'Laren before she left Boston. He tells about "spirit messages" received by the medium Mrs. Currier from a Dr. Rush concerning Garrison's rheumatism. Dr. Rush recommended that Garrison take Dr. Soule's Oriental Pills and certain roots and herbs.
