Description:
Abby R. Talbot writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to her society won't be able to take a table at the anti-slavery fair, but will try to do something. The society was formed on the impulse of the moment when George Thompson lectured here. She writes, "he being the first that had ever spoken on the subject in this place." She writes, "We are surrounded by enemies on the right & on the left..." She regrets the opposition of the church to immediate emancipation. In a postscript she writes that she shall raise a small sum annually for the support of the "Glorious Cause."
