Description:
An account book of expenses incurred kept by Edward Hitchcock during a portion of his geological survey of Massachusetts between June 1831 and May 1832. Expenses listed include dinner, lodging, food for his horse, tolls, postage, and supplies, among others. Expenses incurred by his assistant are included as well. Hitchcock also notes when and to whom he has sent bills for expenses.
