Item Information
Title:
Elymas the Sorcerer Struck with Blindness, Acts. Chap. XIII
Description:
Elymas, at right in a crowded forum attracts the attention of others as he staggers forward reaching out with both hands as he is struck with blindness. St Paul, at left, holds a book under his left arm and points towards Elymas. Sergius Paulus sits on a throne at the center of the composition. This print was made after a work by Renaissance artist Raphael, 1483-1520, which was used as a template for the creation of tapestries for the Sistine Chapel known collectively as the Raphael Cartoons.
