Frank M. Etting informs William Lloyd Garrison of a resolution passed by the Committee on the Restoration of Independence Hall to invite the presence of the "American Historians, Biographers & Literati" to Independence Hall on July 2, 1876. Etting states that it is there intent to gather a "Biographical sketch of every individual" associated with the Hall "during the early days of the Republic" for inclusion "among the archives of the National Museum". Etting extends their invitation to Garrison, and requests that he prepare for their archives a sketch on the life of Thomas Cushing.
