Letter from Thomas McClintock, Waterloo, [N.Y.], to William Lloyd Garrison and Henry Clarke Wright, [January] 8. 1848
Description:
Thomas McClintock writes William Lloyd Garrison and Henry Clarke Wright apologizing for the delay in his correspondence, stating that he had been away for several days attending the "Quarterly Mg." McClintock states that he has read the material enclosed concerning the proposed Anti-Sabbath Convention, and notes his approval, alling it a "subject which strongly calls for the exhibition of truth in opposition to the prevailing error, which threatens to bind the consciences of men with the fetter of superstition & fanaticism, forged anew on the anvil of relgious intolerance". McClintock grants Garrison and Wright his approval to add his own name to the call for the convention, and states that while his own attendance is uncertain, he will at the least provide something in writing for them to have read at the convention.
