Information from accompanying material: [left postcard] Boston, Mass., Washington Statue; [right postcard] Public Garden, Boston, Mass.; [newspaper obituary from Boston Advertiser, 12 Dec. 1911] Thomas Ball, sculptor, dead in his 93rd year; [inscription] 27 Nov. 1908. Mr. Thomas Ball wrote me from Montclair, N.J. that Mr. Winsor's horse was one of two that he studied for his equestrian statue of Washington (in the Public Garden, Boston). Mr. Ball is in his 90th year. We called on Mr. Ball in 1891 at his studio in Florence, Italy.; [inscription annotation] The inscription dated November 27, 1908 written by James Atkins Noyes. Penelope Baker Noyes, his daughter and grand-daughter of Justin Winsor.
