From catalogue raisonné: Few proofs. The old Gore Hall Library at Harvard University stood in Harvard Yard from 1841 to 1913. It occupied part of the site of the presentday Widener Library. Nason's print shows the original building of 1841-1876 before additions and alterations. The Harvard series of wood engravings, commissioned by David McCord on behalf of a number of Harvard projects, were based on photographs provided by McCord.
