William Lloyd Garrison says that he has just written a letter to Mrs. Hooker of Hartford in which he responds to adverse criticism directed at him by Mrs. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and printed in The Revolution. In Garrison's response, he writes: "There are female demagogues as well as male; and the truth compels me to say that I regard both Mrs. Stanton and Miss Anthony as quite unscrupulous in their advocacy of a cause which it is not in their power to make otherwise than just and righteous in itself, however reprehensively they may behave." Garrison wants back issues of The Revolution.
