This stone marks the approximate spot where the Pilgrims landed on November 11, 1620 O. S. While in Provincetown they drew up and signed the Compact, the first charter of a democratic government in the world's history. While here the birth of Peregrine White occurred, the first white child born in New England. Also Dorothy Bradford, the wife of Wm. Bradford, afterward Governor of Plymouth, died here.
