Additional information accompanying item: John Hancock New Bldg, Topped Off 9/27/71. A 36 ft. steel beam carrying an American flag, a fir tree and bronze medallion was raised to the top of the John Hancock Tower in recognition of the completion of the structural steel work on the 60 story edifice. The medallion is a relic from the company's second home office on Federal Street from 1891-1922.
