Letter from Annie Sullivan to Michael Anagnos, May 23, 1887 (pp. 2 & 3 of 3)
Description:
... mind her joy is unbounded. Now it seems too bad to have to feel through two or three books to find a few words and the proper nouns with which she is acquainted, of course she cannot find at all. She became very angry a few days ago, because I could not find Helen or Simpson (her brother's name) in her book, and all I could do, would not make her touch the book the remainder of the afternoon. Now if you could have the words she knows, or most of them, printed on blocks, it would be a great help to us both. Capt. Keller will pay for them, if they can be printed. Almost all of the words are the common words that any child her age would use. If it can be done, I will make out a list of those I would like and send it to you. I am, sincerely, your friend Annie M. Sullivan
