St. John's Church in 1960. Erected in 1841. The Siberian elms in front were set there in 1941, the gift of the late Rt. Rev. Raymond A. Heron in memory of Eliza Lawrie Cutler, the rector's mother. The tall trees in the rear (45 to 60 feet tall) are Lombardy poplars, costing 50 cents apiece, set out in 1939. The hurricanes of 1954 brew down the elms in front of the church, but they were pushed back up again.
