Rachel W. Stearns is very anxious to have one of the "hundred conventions" in Springfield. She mentions a Rev. Harris, who has been lecturing on practical Christianity. Stearns has "learned to look with all suspicion on all talkers, till I hear of or see their doings." She mentions a colored woman preacher and a Wesleyan meeting at which colored people were present.
