Letter from Henry Vincent, Whitby, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1877 August 23rd
Description:
Henry Vincent writes to William Lloyd Garrison sharing his "grief" that he cannot see Garrison before he sails back to the United States. Vincent wishes him "a calm and happy passage over the great sea" and asks that Garrison and his son, Frank, write to him on their arrival in Boston. He then comments on the "late Radical Strikes in America" (possibly the Great Railroad Strike of 1877), sharing his belief "that they were [not] promoted by native-born-Americans", and the prospects of the Republicans in France.
