Letter from Isaac H. Thorp, Weare, N[ew] H[ampshire], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1848 Nov[ember] 6
Description:
Isaac H. Thorp writes to William Lloyd Garrison requesting the "the Liberator for 6 months [and] if things come round right I mean to be a regular subscriber". Thorp claims he is "tired of the soft sodder of the so called Anti Slavery publications of the day" and calls the Liberator "a True Anti Slavery Publication bold & true Fearless for the rights of down trodden & oppressed Humanity[.]" Thorp then shares his wish to "be useful in the Anti Slavery cause" and asks Garrison to send him a circular and how he could contribute to an antislavery fair. Before closing the letter, he asks Garrison "to send some lecturer up this way" to Weare, New Hampshire.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on blue paper with an embossed logo in the head- spine corner of the each page containing the letters "P & S". Above the salutation, a blue oval stamp contains the words "Garrison MSS." On verso, in the tail- spine corner "Ms.A.1.2 v.41 p.37(a)" is written in pencil.
