Letter from George Thompson, Florence, to William Lloyd Garrison, [18]54 Feb[ruary] 11th
Description:
L. Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending him five dollars to pay for two copies of the Liberator. They also ask Garrison to send the paper to "John Patten Esq Royal Dublin Society, Ireland" including the back numbers "commencing with the one where the contemptible meanness of John Mitchell was first published." Thompson also mentions attending a lecture from "Thomas Jones a fugitive slave" who advocated "the use of 'carnal weapons against slavery'". In the postscript, Thompson says that while they are aware "Mr. [Robert Folger] Wallcutt is the one to adress on all business matters about the Liberator", their friend would not allow the letter to be written to anyone but Garrison.
