Charles K. Whipple writes to William Lloyd Garrison thanking him "for the 'Memorial' of Mrs. Garrison" which he sent to him. Whipple states that although he or his wife did not know Mrs. Garrison "intimately" they "knew enough of her to recognize the fitness of the touching tributes paid to her memory".

In the head- spine corner of the first page, "Whipple" is written in pencil, while in the head- spine corner of the adjacent page, "Ms. Am. 147(16)" is also written in pencil.
