Gerrit Smith writes to William Lloyd Garrison passing along a letter (not included) that Smith says he should have. He lists the points he replied to [Theodore Dwight] Weld (in response to Weld's letter to Smith, dated March 12, 1862) and traces a conversation from twenty years ago to A.A. Phelps who passed the information to H.B. Stanton and then to Weld.
