French WW1 model 1886 bayonet for Lebel rifle Long, slender blade, cruciform in cross section (no cutting edges), strong taper towards the needle-like point. The blade is rounded in cross-section closest to the guard, then transitions into cruciform where 4 deep fullers begin at right angles. The bayonet has a steel guard that curves up towards the blade and has an integrated ring for the rifle barrel. Just under the guard is a round metal ferral with a spring button to engage the bayonet lug. The cast steel handle similarly has a groove along the back of the grip for attachment.
