Speaker is James Henry Gibbs, LANE informant 124.1), recounting a whaling voyage out of New Bedford to the Atlantic and Indian oceans (1869-1872); Nantucket; telling the weather; farming; bells. Includes singing a whaling song. Audio is of uneven quality, but some very clear: transferred from original aluminum disks to tape.
