Men preparing to cook sheep on the Georgian Military Highway
Description:
Men preparing to cook sheep, leg bone prepared by men for the soup. Given that these photos were taken south of Kazbegi, these were probably Georgians or South Ossetians, both of whom are Orthodox Christian even though the women have their heads covered. This pagan ritual of animal sacrifice has been incorporated into Christian observances.
