Bernard and Charlotte Spivack, husband and wife professors in the English Department, sit at a table listening to a speaker off camera. Professor Charlotte became an established author on the works of women fantasy writers while teaching at UMass. Her husband retired in 1981 as one of the campus's foremost Shakespeare scholars and passed away in 1992 at the age of 80. In 2000, the University's Massachusetts Center for the Renaissance paid homage to his love of Shakespeare and horticulture with the establishment of an Elizabethan-style memorial garden in his name. "Bernard & Charlotte Spivack" handwritten on back.
