This is a souvenir pamphlet produced by the Western Province Basketball Association for Springfield College and the members of the men's basketball team. Ceylon was the college’s first stop during their South-Asian Goodwill Tour. The tour was sponsored by the United States Department of State and the US Ambassador, Cecil B. Lyon. The basketball exhibition match in Ceylon was played at 6:30 p.m. on July 27, 1965 at the Army Basketball Court, Echelon Square, Colombo. On the cover is the emblem of the Western Province Basketball Association; inside is a letter from the organization’s president, W. H. Saverimuttu. The pamphlet includes an overview of basketball’s rules and a message from Dr. Edward S. Steitz, the varsity basketball coach and director of athletics at Springfield College. It also lists each team’s lineup and includes portraits of the Springfield College players.
