2.5 x 3.875" wooden box filled with metal type used at West Cambridge Post Office. Type includeds a metal stamp "Paid". Wooden box is in decent condition. Box's edges and bottom have been likely glued together. The bottom in not perfectly attached like sides. Lid of box is attached with two metal wiring. Wood is a dark brown and inside is a lighter color. The wooden box is scratched on the bottom. Box has seven slots on each side inside intended to be used for wooden dividers. There are only six wooden dividers, five of which are in the first five slots. The other is diagonal, likely from sliding out of its slot. The type has fallen throughout the box and out. Some of the type is in a separate bag. The type is metal and has red ink stains on the stamp side. Inside the box, there is a white material, likely cotton or wool, stuffed inside a few of the dividers. The reason for the white material is unknown. Overall, the inside of the box is a mess and type is loose.
