Revolution! 250 Years of Art & Activism in Boston
This collection contains images that were displayed in the exhibition Revolution! 250 Years of Art and Activism in Boston.
The history of the United States was shaped by ordinary individuals undertaking extraordinary acts. Two hundred and fifty years after the Revolutionary War and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we continue to celebrate, reflect upon, and critically examine the ideals set forth at the nation’s founding. To whom were these promises made? And how are people still working today to make sure those promises are kept?
This exhibition contains works from the Arts Collection of the Boston Public Library -- artworks and documentary materials that highlight both familiar and lesser-known narratives in America’s ongoing struggle for liberation, civil rights, and a sense of belonging for everyone.
