Warren Favor Collection

Warren E. Favor (1912-1995) was born in Boston and lived in Jamaica Plain. A machinist by profession, Favor was an amateur photographer who donated his personal collection of negatives, 35mm color slides, and lantern slides to the Boston Public library in 1979. Favor graduated from the Washington Irving School in 1928 and the Hyde Park Evening School in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in the 649th Engineer Battalion during World War II.

Favor's collection includes images taken during his war service in North Africa and Europe, travel photographs, and personal photographs taken in Greater Boston. He died in Holiday, Florida in 1995.

Critical funding to support long-term preservation of and enhanced public access to Boston Public Library collections, including this one, was provided by the Associates of the Boston Public Library.
