Photograph Album of Teachers of the New England Freedman's & Union Commission

85 photographs in one album, compiled chiefly between 1866 and 1869, depicting officers and teachers of the New England Branch of the American Freedman's Union Commission (formerly the New England Freedmen's Aid Society), along with several of their students. The photographs include albumen prints and tintypes, some with hand coloring. The album comprises 25 unnumbered leaves, each with four pre-cut slots for photographs, and title and index leaves. Locations include: Boston, Massachusetts; Charlottesville and Alexandria, Virginia; Charleston, St. Helena, and Sumter, South Carolina; New Bern, North Carolina; Memphis, Tennessee; Magnolia Point, Florida; and Washington, D.C.
