Lane/Mead Collection Related to Port of Boston Management and Labor Relations

This collection documents operations in the Port of Boston, particularly throughout the twentieth century. There is a distinct focus on labor relations and negotiations between dockworkers and management, as well as daily operations. Much of the material was donated by, and is connected to, the work of Arthur Lane, Jane Mead, Capt. A. Ross Pope, the Boston Shipping Association, Walter Egee, and Capt. Steve Palmer. This collection contains a variety of materials, including administrative documentation from port companies, collective bargaining agreements, scrapbooks, legal documentation, reports, and photographs.

A portion of the collection has been digitized and made available online to meet the needs of remote researchers, and efforts to digitize other portions of this collection are iterative and ongoing.
