Piles of raw wool are in the right foreground and center, behind which stand two workers (on the right) and three men in white coats, possibly supervisors (?), on the left. There was a Richardson's Wool Washeries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, as early as 1921. In 1944 a Richardson's Wool Washeries Ltd. was established in Port Elizabeth. Note the British spelling of carbonising in 0000.1721.9, rather than the American version (carbonizing). No trace of a Richardson's Wool Washeries could be found in the United States.
