Reuben Winchell house. 169 Chestnut Plain. Added to the file is a recent house history compiled by Dereka Smith, archivist for the WHS. 169 Chestnut Plain. This is a Howes brother photograph but the woman sitting outside is not identified. Is there a child in her lap? The photo taken on 20 June 1900 by Steve Calderone was part of a "Then and Now" project. The brick was made at Claverack and Chestnut Plain. The house was built by Reuben Winchell and was the site of the post office for some time.
