<mods:abstract>Black and white full-length studio portrait of Che-Mah, a Chinese dwarf standing next to a Caucasian male of normal stature. Subject is a Asian male standing facing front in Chinese attire. Subject has a goatee and a fu manchu moustache. Subject wears a dark sailor-like hat, a dark tunic of shiny fabric with a central embroidered square, wide sleeves, a longer white tunic extending below the dark tunic. White tunic is patterned with butterflies [?]. Beneath the white tunic are dark shoes topped by the cuffs of dark pants. In his left hand subject holds a light-colored folded fan. To subject's right is an unidentified Caucasian male with greying hair swept back over the crown of his head and very full, greying lamb chop sideburns/whiskers. This subject wears a three-quarter-length unbuttoned, double-breasted coat of medium-color with six buttons visible, slightly darker-colored buttoned vest under, white shirt, dark bow tie, gingham-checked trousers and scuffed dark shoes. To the left of Che-Mah are plants painted on a studio backdrop.</mods:abstract>
