This may be on the porch of the main house at the Whitney Estate. Coordinates show approximate location of the house. The Whitney Estate, named for its owner, William C. Whitney, former Secretary of Navy under President Cleveland. When Whitney purchased over 12,000 acres that included a third of the area of the town of Washington, he became the largest property owner of Massachusetts. Whitney and his wife lived part-time starting in 1899 on this estate, stocking it with elks, buffalo, deer, and numerous other birds and animals.
