<mods:note>William Lloyd Garrison says that his recollections of "the early stages of the anti-slavery movement" are very poor. He fears that Helen Villard "may fail in strength in trying to master so difficult an instrument" as the violin. He mentions the "entertainment at Mrs. Fenno Tudor's residence on Saturday evening" in which the tickets were one dollar each. Enclosed, he is sending to Henry Villard "an article relating to a luminous experiment with petroleum." Robert F. Wallcut had tea with Garrison last night. Garrison says that "Mary Wallcut is strenuously endeavoring to find some employment, but thus far has met with no success."</mods:note>
