<mods:note>Since Mrs. Garrison is unable to use the invalid's chair, William Lloyd Garrison sends it to J. Miller M'Kim. William L. Garrison is not sure he can make the trip to New York. He was pleased by the hopefulness expressed in J. Miller M'Kim's last letter. Henry Villard is in Chicago. William L. Garrison doubts whether Henry Villard "will be able to accomplish anything in conserving the interests of those German bankers and capitalists who have invested so largely in Western railroad stock; ..." Mr. and Mrs. Wright of Auburn, New York, visited William L. Garrison last night. Joseph May, the son of Samuel Joseph May, preached an excellent sermon in Doctor Putnam's church. William L. Garrison writes: "I am eager to get a look at 'The Type Writer,' to which you refer, as I am an expert in the setting of types."</mods:note>
