Caption: USNOB, Bermuda - May 5, 1947 - Private Halton B. Hood of Detroit, Michigan, Corporal William P. Hill of Coronada, California, and Private First Class Charles F. Brinkman of Amsterdam, New York, pause beside the bay directly in back of Marine Barracks before going on duty. In the background can been seen the red pasteled colored BOQ, which is made of coral, for this island is made entirely of coral and it is the main construction material. Above the BOQ is an enormous water catch covering the hills and is whitewashed all over, for on the island there is no water supply and the only means of getting water is to catch it and store it in large reservoirs. Right in front of the leathernecks are sailboats for their recreation. Hdqtrs. No. 166793.
