Description:: Lou Jones is a Boston-based artist who started his career as a photographer in 1971. Originally pursuing a career as a physicist, studying at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and working one summer at NASA as a literal rocket scientist, Jones pivoted to photography as a way to meld his love of science with his urge to create. While Jones started out as a commercial and editorial photographer and has continued to photograph for local, national, and international clients, he has also moved forward on a parallel track with his fine arts work, embracing projects of personal interest. He has proven during his long career that commercial work can be artistic, and that fine art work can be fed and nourished by the skills and knowledge learned in the deadline-intensive commercial arena. Lou Jones approaches all his projects by combining a scientist's deep technical knowledge of the medium and its equipment with the artist's empathy and eye for color and form.
