He apologizes for not being able to attend the consultation meeting but asks that Phelps record his name as a member of the newly formed Massachusetts Abolition Society. In addition, on the last page he discusses newspaper poltiics, specifically about the Liberator.</mods:abstract>

<mods:note>Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink over white paper. Below the first line of the letter, there is the number "97" written in pencil. There is a red postmarked stamp that says "Andover Jun 8 MA" as well as another stamp that says "Paid" on the 3rd page of the letter.</mods:note>
<mods:note>Below the postscript is a separate note to Mr. Russel asking him to forward his paper to Mr. J.L. Dickinson and to charge the same to his account.</mods:note>
