<mods:abstract>This black and white engraving is a memento mori for George Washington. The scene contains the monument, two mourning figures (one male, one female), and a female allegorical figure with an anchor representing hope and remembrance. The monument has a short rectangular base with a pyramid above. Mounted on the pyramid side is a portrait medallion flanked by laurel branches with "G. Washington" engraved below. Engraved on base of monument is "There is/Rest in/HEAVEN." Behind the monument is a weeping willow tree. The scene is circular and encircled by three decorative bands. The background corners have a geometric brick-like pattern. The pine frame is covered with pressed tin and embossed with a repeating leaf pattern on the outer border and a beaded inner border.</mods:abstract>
