<mods:abstract>This lantern slide, “Lamotte-Warfusee Church (August 1918),” shows the ruinous remains of a church in Lamotte-Warfusee. The slide’s caption reads “La Motte-Warfusee Church Aug. 1918.” Part of the Battle of Amiens in World War I was fought in Lamotte–Warfusée, a commune in the Somme department in Picardie in northern France.</mods:abstract>
<mods:note>During World War I, the Australian Y.M.C.A. ran soldiers’ clubs in Cairo, Alexandria, and elsewhere. They also pooled their resources with the United States, Canada, England, and New Zealand to form the International Hospitality League, which provided social services to all Allied troops. This slide is part of Springfield College’s collection of lantern slides depicting Australian Y.M.C.A. war work during World War I.</mods:note>
<mods:note>Minor discoloration in center; Writing on frame of slide says: La Motte-Warfusee Church Aug. 1918;</mods:note>
