'This picture of my maternal grandparents is important to me because they were married at the Seamen's Bethel, even though the family was Catholic. The reason for their marrying at the Seamen's Bethel was that Lena's mother did not want her to marry Pierre because he was older, but Lena's father was okay with it and was the witness to the wedding. A year later on the same date, September 12, 1909, they were remarried at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church on Rivet Street in New Bedford. Pictured: Pierre Ouimette, Lenaouette Genereux Ouimette, and Irene Cathy Duprey.'
