"The Healthful Art of Dancing" is a book written by Luther Gulick. Published in 1910, the book explores dance as the expression of the joy of life, as it's related to health, vigour, and beauty. The book has 13 chapters covering the following information: point of view; dancing as a part of education; the practical conduct of folk dancing as a re-creative measure in a great city; the results of experience; the physiology of dancing; exercise must be interesting; the place and limitations of folk dancing as an agency in physical training; athletics for girl, biological considerations; neuro-muscular coordinations having educational value; the return of the dance; folk dancing as an art; elements of the dance; and rhythm. Each of the different chapters includes various photographs of people dancing. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of dance and why it is important. Gulick hoped that programs of dance would instill girls with an appreciation for different ethnic cultures. This book was later used in the mid-30's as a reference work by dance teachers. This is not an exact representation of the book, but has been transcribed with scanned images from the book being added.
