William Hall, Queen Elizabeth II Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Co. Down. Photographs taken inside Bessbrook army base, South Armagh, on the occasion of the presentation of the shamrock by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal Anne to the 1st Battalion Irish Guards just before the regiment left for London. Princess Anne has been presenting the shamrocks each year since the death of the Queen Mother. Photographs are of the Princess and William Hall presenting the shamrock. Others in the shots include the Duke and Duchess of Abercorn (she is connected to the Pushkin prize), the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Col. C.P.H. Knaggs, and other army and civilian dignitaries. Other photographs taken after the ceremony are of William Hall and army officers on Romeo one-two look-out post on top of a mountain in South Armagh and of a helicopter landing. This was a very important vantage point for the army. This look-out post is now demolished
