This engraving depicts a large ceremonial display of military companies for the reception of Lajos Kossuth, exiled leader of the Hungarian Revolution and former Regent-President of Hungary. Many of the military companies are on horseback. The State House is bedecked with flags, and welcome-arches cover the steps leading to the capitol. An article describing the scene accompanies the engraving, which is from Gleason's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion.
