Sally Cobb was the daughter of Lydia (1707-1762) and Thomas Cobb (1705-1779) of Taunton, Massachusetts. She apparently went to school in Boston, where needlework of this splendid quality was taught to the daughters of Massachusetts’ elite families. Sally married Robert Treat Paine, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, in 1770. Textiles 02.023
