This curtain panel is constructed from a machine-woven version of wool crewel embroidery on a plainweave cotton ground. The wool supplementary wefts are woven in a South Asian palampore style of a branching tree with elaborate flowers and curling leaves, worked in shades of green, yellow, brown, red, and pink on a tan ground. The panel width encompasses nearly two complete repeats of the design. The panel outer edge and hem are embellished with an elaborate, 2 inch wide silk and cotton tasseled braid in complementary shades. The panel is lined with tan-colored cotton twill and interlined with grey cotton flannel. The top of the panel is gathered into five evenly spaced box pleats. Seven brass hooks are evenly spaced across the top interior edge of the panel for suspension from a curtain rod. The panel appears to be completely hand sewn, or at least finished by hand. Retains red twisted cotton tie-back rope. Some loss to decorative wool elements.
